The Krampus frameset is the pioneering force behind the plus-size movement in mountain biking. Crafted from 100% Surly 4130 CroMoly steel, this rigid frame and fork feature a double-butted main triangle and a robust 44mm headtube for enhanced strength and durability. The updated tube-set incorporates the same trumpet tubes found on the 2017 Karate Monkey frame, delivering a refined balance of stiffness and compliance.
Designed with versatility in mind, it includes Surly’s Gnot-Boost adjustable rear dropouts with 145mm spacing, compatible with Boost 148 x 12mm thru-axle, 142 x 12mm thru-axle, and 135mm quick-release hubs. Internal routing for a dropper seatpost and a 30.9mm seat tube size add to the frame’s modern features.
This frameset accommodates large 29+ wheels and is engineered to fit tires up to 29 x 3.0 inches, providing excellent traction and control across varied terrain. The front axle uses a 15mm thru-axle with 110mm spacing, ensuring a stiff and reliable front end.
